10-Year Yield Rises 6 bps to 5.15% (Oct 19, 2026)

The 10-year Treasury rate stands at 5.15 percent today, October 19, 2026, more than a full percentage point higher than the 4.02 percent recorded one year ago. The 30-year Treasury yield tells a similar story, sitting at 5.48 percent versus 4.60 percent in mid-October 2025. Those year-over-year gains frame a market where long-term borrowing costs have climbed sharply over the past twelve months. Today's 30-year yield also edged up from 5.43 percent on Friday.

Beyond the long end, the year-over-year contrast holds across the rest of the Treasury yield curve. The 2-year Treasury rate is at 4.77 percent, well above the 3.46 percent level of a year ago, and the 1-year yield has risen from 3.56 percent to 4.50 percent over the same span. Compared with last week, however, the picture is mixed: the 10-year and 30-year yields are lower than their October 12 levels of 5.24 and 5.60 percent, and the 5-year has slipped from 5.02 to 4.94 percent. Shorter maturities have barely moved, with the 4-week bill at 4.11 percent versus 4.13 percent a week ago.

Looking at the past month, the rise in longer rates stands out. The 10-year has climbed from 5.01 percent on September 19, and the 30-year has advanced from 5.34 percent, while the 20-year moved from 5.38 to 5.53 percent. At the front end, the 4-week bill has risen from 3.97 to 4.11 percent and the 6-month from 4.24 to 4.37 percent. The 2-year, by contrast, is essentially where it was a month ago at 4.76 percent.

On shape, the curve today is upward sloping from the 4-week bill through the 20-year, with the 20-year at 5.53 percent sitting above the 30-year at 5.48 percent. A year ago the 30-year exceeded the 20-year, 4.60 to 4.58 percent. No inversions appear in today's lineup, and none were present last week either. Thirty days ago the curve was also positive from end to end, though the gap between the 2-year and 10-year has widened since then from 25 hundredths to 38 hundredths of a percentage point.
