The middle of the Treasury curve held mostly steady on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with the 2-year Treasury rate at 4.82%, the 3-year at 4.92%, the 5-year at 5.00%, and the 7-year at 5.09%. The 10-year Treasury rate slipped to 5.19%, down 2 basis-point-free terms from yesterday's 5.21% and lower than the 5.28% posted a week ago. The 30-year Treasury yield also eased, falling to 5.52% from 5.56% on Tuesday and 5.67% last Wednesday. Rates across the 2-year through 7-year span were little changed on the day, with the 5-year flat at 5.00%.
Compared with last week, the belly of the curve moved in different directions. The 2-year Treasury rate rose from 4.77% to 4.82%, and the 3-year climbed from 4.87% to 4.92%, while the 5-year ticked down from 5.03% to 5.00% and the 7-year fell from 5.15% to 5.09%. At the short end, the 4-week rate edged up from 4.07% to 4.11%, and the 1-year moved higher from 4.42% to 4.53%. The long end shifted lower, with the 20-year dropping from 5.71% to 5.57%.
Over the past month, every maturity on the curve is higher than it was on September 14. The 10-year Treasury rate has jumped 22 hundredths of a percent, from 4.97% to 5.19%, and the 30-year Treasury yield has climbed from 5.34% to 5.52%. The 2-year Treasury rate rose from 4.65% to 4.82%, the 5-year from 4.80% to 5.00%, and the 7-year from 4.88% to 5.09%. Against one year ago, today's 10-year sits well above the 4.03% recorded on October 14, 2025, and the 30-year is far higher than last year's 4.62%.
The Treasury yield curve remains inverted at the very long end, with the 20-year at 5.57% sitting above the 30-year at 5.52%. That inversion was wider last week, when the 20-year stood at 5.71% against a 30-year of 5.67%, and also 30 days ago, when the two rates were 5.37% and 5.34%. Elsewhere, the curve slopes upward from the 4-week rate of 4.11% through the 20-year. The gap between the 2-year Treasury rate and the 10-year Treasury rate stands at 37 hundredths of a percent, wider than the 51-hundredths spread 30 days ago was narrower by comparison at 32 hundredths.
