2-Year Yield Rises 5 bps to 4.80% (Oct 9, 2026)

A mostly upward-sloping Treasury yield curve greeted Friday, October 9, 2026, with tight spacing at the front and a single inversion at the long end. The 4-week, 6-week, and 2-month bills all sit at 4.13 percent, leaving no gap among the first three maturities. From there the curve steps higher in narrow increments: the 3-month rate is 12 hundredths above the bills at 4.25 percent, the 6-month bill at 4.32 percent adds 7 more, and the 1-year at 4.47 percent, 2-year at 4.80 percent, and 5-year at 5.02 percent continue the climb. The 20-year marks the peak at 5.65 percent, one point above the 30-year Treasury yield of 5.60 percent, the day's only inversion.

Individual rates show modest daily movement. The 4-week Treasury bill rate slipped a penny from Thursday's 4.14 percent, as did the 6-week, while the 2-month held at 4.13 percent. The 2-year Treasury rate climbed to 4.80 percent from 4.75 percent, the 3-year to 4.89 percent from 4.85 percent, and the 5-year to 5.02 percent from 4.99 percent.
