3-Year Yield Falls 17 bps to 4.72% (Oct 22, 2026)

The 30-year Treasury yield sits at 5.29 percent on Thursday, October 22, 2026, down from 5.42 percent yesterday and slightly below the 5.43 percent reading one week ago. The 20-year yield also eased, falling to 5.32 percent from 5.47 percent on Wednesday. Long-end rates have held in a narrow band over the past several sessions even as shorter maturities moved more noticeably. The 30-year Treasury yield remains well above where it stood a month ago, when it matched today's level at 5.29 percent.

Across the rest of the Treasury yield curve, declines were widespread compared with Wednesday. The 10-year Treasury rate dropped to 4.96 percent from 5.13 percent, while the 2-year Treasury rate fell to 4.65 percent from 4.81 percent. The one-year yield slipped to 4.41 percent from 4.52 percent. Against last Thursday's readings, the picture is mixed: the 2-year and 10-year are modestly lower, the 3-month rate is down slightly, and the 4-week bill is 6 hundredths lower at 4.11 percent.

Over the past month, the long end has been the steadiest part of the curve. The 20-year yield is essentially unchanged from its September 22 level of 5.33 percent, and the 30-year is flat at 5.29 percent. Shorter maturities have climbed in that span, with the 3-month rate rising from 4.16 percent to 4.22 percent and the 2-year up from 4.71 percent to 4.65 percent after moving higher in between. The 10-year Treasury rate is exactly where it was 30 days ago at 4.96 percent. Compared with one year ago, today's 10-year sits 99 hundredths higher than the 3.97 percent reading of October 2025, and the 30-year Treasury yield is 75 hundredths above last year's 4.54 percent.

The Treasury yield curve remains upward sloping from the front end through 20 years, where the 5.32 percent reading marks the highest yield on the curve. The 30-year, at 5.29 percent, sits just below the 20-year, leaving a slight dip at the longest maturity. This shape is little changed from last week, when the 20-year also topped the curve at 5.48 percent against a 5.43 percent 30-year yield. Thirty days ago the same pattern held, with the 20-year at 5.33 percent and the 30-year at 5.29 percent. No inversions appear anywhere on the curve today, matching the configuration in place both last week and a month ago.
