Treasury Yield Curve Analysis

The 30-year Treasury yield closed Friday at 4.91 percent, down 7 basis points from last Friday's 4.98 percent. The 10-year rate fell to 4.35 from 4.44 the previous week, while the 20-year yield dropped to 4.91 from 4.99. Not all maturities moved lower over the week though, as the 1-year rate edged up to 3.72 from 3.77 last Friday. The long end of the curve saw the largest declines this week.

The broader curve moved mostly lower over the past week. The 20-year and 10-year fell 8 and 9 basis points respectively, showing the biggest drops among longer maturities. The 7-year and 5-year each declined 7 basis points, while the 3-year and 2-year fell 6 and 4 basis points to reach 3.88 and 3.84. The shortest maturities proved more stable, with the 3-month holding at 3.71 and the 6-month slipping just 2 basis points to 3.73.
